A timely reminder

The 17th February marks the 47th anniversary of the passing of the European Communities Act, confirming UK accession to the EC. 309 Britons i.e. Westminster MPs, voted to join, a majority of just 8. In June 2016, 17.4m Britons voted to leave, with a majority of 1.26m. Which do you think has the most democratic legitimacy? Staggering to realise that such a fine margin was involved. Also worth bearing in mind that some Labour MPs either abstained or voted with the Government. It required just four to have changed their minds and we might have been spared 47 years of misery and particularly the last 30 months of sheer hell!  The then Prime Minister, Edward Heath, also chose to mislead Parliament by assuring MPs that the Commonwealth would not be affected.
